Rerelease | Buttercup & The Charismatic Narcissist | Domestic Violence & Narcissistic Abuse

In this rerelease episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Buttercup shares how the man who once made her feel deeply seen became the person she feared most. Raised by a critical pastor father, she learned to silence herself and earn acceptance while believing marriage was permanent. After a whirlwind romance with a charismatic younger man, his adoration gave way to cheating, humiliation, abandonment, and a home ruled by fear.

For 12 years, Buttercup walked on eggshells while protecting her children and trying to win back the man she thought she had married. Behind his beloved public persona were sexual coercion, drug use, violent intimidation, and increasingly dangerous abuse. When Buttercup finally filed for divorce, he launched a smear campaign, abandoned her financially, and threatened to take their son. Her story reveals how empty apologies keep hope alive and how leaving begins with accepting that love cannot make an abuser change.

It's a story of codependency, empty apologies, entitlement, gaslighting, physical abuse, sexual coercion, hypocrisy, blaming, nitpicking, projection, coercive control, possession, narcissistic abuse, infidelity, emotional abuse, trauma bonding, intermittent reinforcement, love bombing, walking on eggshells, gaslighting, blame shifting, entitlement, smear campaigns, post-separation abuse, financial abuse, and religious trauma.
