Rerelease | Imposter Syndrome After Abuse

In this rerelease episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Brandon explores how abuse and trauma can create a lasting sense of imposter syndrome. Gaslighting, criticism, comparison, and repeated minimization can leave survivors doubting their abilities, questioning their memories, and wondering whether what happened to them was serious enough to be called abuse.
Brandon also examines how perfectionism, overfunctioning, isolation, and the belief that other people had it worse can deepen this self-doubt. The episode explains how an abuser’s voice can become an internal voice long after the relationship ends, causing survivors to discount their accomplishments and minimize their own pain.
This episode is a reminder that emotional and psychological abuse are real, your trauma does not need to be compared with anyone else’s, and you do not need visible injuries for your experience to be valid.
